| Gracie got beat down like yesterday's news. Overall, the whole event was sorta "blah"...not a lot of exciting matches. Hughes almost submitted Royce (I think he did hurt Royce's arm, but I think Royce had too much pride to tap), then climbed on his back and beat him in the head until the Big John put a stop to the fight. |

Royce looked like he was gonna cry after the match lol. i was hopping that Hughes would through Royce a beating, cause he was just being so cocky. i was not disapointed.

| Gracie really needs to improve on his striking to fight well in UFC. He won a LOT of his early career fights by simply putting someone in his guard, but against a top tier fighter like Hughes, that's just going to get you a beating. Unless Hughes does something retarded, Royce ain't gonna get a triangle choke or arm bar on. After that submission hold Hughes put on Royce's arm though, I knew it was done...take out your arm like that and there's not much you can do to protect yourself on the ground. |

I had absolutely NO doubt that Hughes was going to completely destroy Royce. C'mon now... look at the two guys and their fighting styles? No contest at all. I think when Royce was leaving the octagon he had tears in his eyes. But did he seriously think he was going to beat Hughes? That guy is a complete ass kicking machine. I love watching his fights. What I REALLY want to see is the Silva vs. Arlovski and Ortiz vs. Shamrock fights. I'm rooting for Silvia and Ortiz. Shamrock really pisses me off and looks like a complete moron who deserves a beat down. I think if Ortiz loses he is going to cry though, lol. ------------- |

i dunno preach, i still think UFC 59 was a fluke. Arlovski i s gonna kick Silva's ass. he just got lucky last time. i dont think hes half the fighter that Angre is. i do think that Shamrock is gonna get beat up agian though lol. UFC 61 is gonna be a good one thats for sure... -------------

Don't get me wrong... I think Arlovski is a great fighter. But I just like Silvia a lot. I think Silvia knows he caught a lucky break. Arlovski lunged in with that right and completely left himself open to get hit square on the jaw. Hopefully Silvia can adjust his game plan and avoid that devastating right of Arlovski. I'd like to see the fight go longer than one round.  As for Shamrock... I just don't like him, and I hope he gets some old fashioned Ortiz ground'n'pound action on his face. In UFC59 Ortiz started the first round with his old game plan... take down followed by vicious ground'n'pound. I think he either hurt himself, or gassed after that because he didn't stick to what works for him. Hopefully in UFC61 he will go with what works for him and smash Shamrock's face. ------------- |

IIRC, Ortiz went into 59 with a torn up knee or some sort of leg injury, which seemed to really affect his shooting for the takedown. From ultimate fighter 3 season, Shamrock just looks like an over the hill punk ass...Ortiz seems to be a pretty cool dude that just eggs people on that piss him off lol. Watching their training, I don't think you could convince me to train under Shamrock, though granted I'm only seeing a small portion of what's going on. Arlovski's a great fighter, he just got cocky in that fight. The downside is this has shown he can get dropped with one punch, so people may not be as scared of swinging with him as they have in the past. Silvia's an interesting fellow...I wouldn't count him out though, he's still improving his skills. Personally, I wanna see more of Dean Lister fight. That guy has INSANE ground skills. |
